DTS was exactly what I needed at the exact right time. Many times we Christians know a lot about God, the Bible, or Christianity in general. We however fail (sometimes) to really “believe” this information in our hearts. Paul wrote in Romans 10:9, “Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” which I believe describes a process where God takes the head knowledge and transfers it into your heart. I knew God provides, but I saw it happen on DTS with students that didn't have enough funds at the start of the school. I knew the Holy Spirit ministers to people, but I saw Muslim men famished for Jesus and accept Christ not because of great words or wonderful doctrine, but because the Holy Spirit was brought in the situation through obedience. If you want doctrine and flowery speech, maybe DTS isn't what you want right now. But, if you want an experience where you can say, “I know God exists because the things I just saw happen can't be explained by any other reason”, then DTS is probably just what YOU need. If you want God alive and in person, maybe DTS is right for you. Justin Mckinney-USA
During the DTS God became the air that I breathe. I found my
identity and purpose for living as I grew closer to Him. The
DTS challenged me, healed me, taught me, and made me desperate
to know more about my Father. The school only lasted 6 months,
but it's effects will last a lifetime. I came to DTS expecting to learn about God and to get closer
to Him. This all happened but not in the way I expected. I was
broken and had to learn how to depend on God's grace to get through
every day. DTS exposed my greatest needs for God. It took me
beyond my own abilities to be a "good Christian". I started to
live out of God's strength instead. DTS wasn't easy but it was
absolutely worth it! DTS was a wonderful possibility to create an awareness for
the needs of people in another country. Missions is no longer
an abstract concept, but a personal experience. Highly inspiring
and hopefully with a strong impact for the future. The Lecture Phase was the hardest thing I have ever done. I
left my family and girl and left for Hungary. I hit rock bottom.
But every time I hit bottom God was my strength and picked me
back up again. He became my Daddy. The last six months were the
best in my life. I thank God every day for bringing me to Budapest!
He blessed me with 10 new brothers and sisters! God changed my
life in the last six months and I strongly encourage everyone
who wants a deeper relationship with God to give six months to
the Lord! I came to this school with deep questions about my relationship
with God. I found acceptance and freedom to be honest. The most
stretching thing for me was to open up to new friends on a very
personal level. Through lectures and in practice, I learned not
to perform for God but to rest in His grace. I am leaving not
with answers to my questions, but with a better understanding
of who God made me, and with courage to keep seeking God amidst
the questions. Choosing to do a DTS was one of the best decisions I have ever
made in my life. Now I have more hunger for my Father. I realize
who I am in Christ. I don't receive my identity from the world,
but from Christ. At the beginning of the DTS I prayed for God to open my mouth
and fill me with boldness because I wanted to be able to share
God's love more openly and courageously. I also prayed for God
to reveal His purposes for my life and what would be my next
step. I lived by faith that God would answer my prayers and He
over-exceedingly answered them. He gave me boldness, courage,
and confidence to preach His Word, and to worship Him with my
voice. He also showed me the first glimpse of my destiny and
calling that He has for my life in His Kingdom, and completely
opened me up to different cultures and people. If you are called to missions, to make God known, a YWAM DTS
is a wonderful start. I got my call a year after I met Jesus
personally. I was 15 and probably the most shy girl on earth.
Then god started to encourage me and make me able to do what
he called me to do. He worked on me a lot before DTS. But now
after the DTS I can almost say I'm ready to be a missionary.
I got a lot of opportunity on DTS to learn how to evangelize,
I've got a lot more courage. I preached even on the street, and
I went to another country for 2 months where I could taste how
it is to be a missionary in a totally different culture. And
it's one thing to mention I've got from god during DTS. DTS is
5 months just for God. It's all about HimÉ to know Him and make
Him known! Come and do your DTS in Budapest. It will change you!
